How to Get Around

Sri Lankan climate is tropical, with distinct dry Privately hired vehicle with a chauffeur is a Best and recommended way of transportation when travelling in Sri Lanka is hiring a chauffeur driven private car or van for the entire trip. Though Sri Lanka is a small country, it requires considerable time of driving from destination to destination. You can leave your luggage in the vehicle when you have your own privately hired vehicle. If you are travelling with kids, it is convenient of having a vehicle and driver at your disposal. We do not recommend self driving in Sri Lanka as adherence to rules and regulations seems to be neglected.

Taxis – Hiring a taxi from point to point will be cheaper than having your own privately hired vehicle with a chauffeur but taxi drivers do not speak good English. As the taxi leaves after dropping you, you have no way of keeping your luggage while you explore.
Public transportation – Not so developed and not on time. Unless you are backpacking, we do not recommend this method. But it is fun to take a scenic train ride from Kandy to Ella or even taking a short bus ride to experience how locals travel.
Domestic flights – There are private operators of scheduled and chartered domestic flights in Sri Lanka. If you are with time constraints, we would recommend considering taking scheduled domestic flights especially to and from Trincomalee, Passikudah, Yala, Sigiriya and also from Kandy.
